PURPOSE:To obtain high saturation magnetic flux density, wear resistance and corrosion resistance in a thin amorphous magnetic alloy plate for a magnetic head, by adding prescribed amounts of Ru, Cr and Ti to Fe-Co-Ni alloy. CONSTITUTION:A thin amorphous magnetic alloy plate for a magnetic head is formed with a composition represented by the general formula, where M represents one or more of iron group elements, Ru, Cr and other transition metal elements except Ti, and X represents one or more of Si and other vitrifying element except B. Further, x+y+z+w+v+u=100at%, where y is 0.01-8at%, z 0.5-2at%, w 0.05-2at%, v 0-4at%, and u 20-26at%. In addition, p+q+r= 100%, k+1+m=100%, 100%, where p is 3-7%, r 0-10%, k 0.5-20%, and m 0-2%. The thin plate thus obtained has high saturation magnetic flux density, high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance.
