Abstract

PURPOSE:To heighten the efficiency of deceleration, braking and acceleration of a vehicle, by changing kinetic energy into electric power and temporarily storing it in a battery in the deceleration or/and braking, and using the electric power to assist the rotation of the engine of the vehicle in its acceleration. CONSTITUTION:An electric motor M and an electricity generator G are coupled to the output shaft 1 of an engine E through transmission units 4, 5. A one-way clutch 6 transmits torque in only one direction from the motor M to the engine E. In the deceleration or braking of a vehicle, a controller C makes a charging circuit 8 so that electric power produced by the generator G is stored in a battery B. In the acceleration of the vehicle, the controller C makes an electricity supply circuit 7 so that the electric power stored in the battery B is supplied to the electric motor M to apply auxiliary torque to the output shaft 1 through the transmission unit 4. The efficiency of the deceleration, braking and acceleration is thus heightened.
