Abstract
The electric motor drive system uses rechargeable batteries, and can work with or independently of another power source. The motor is a direct current one with a permanent magnet stator. The gearing is such that the motor can generate sufficient voltage to charge the batteries from the alternative power. The alternative power can be pedal or engine. A pressure operated switch is placed under the rider's seat to close the circuit when the rider is in position. The drive is to the rear wheel of the cycle.
