Abstract

The engine (1) drives an electric generator (2) connected to a battery (8). Both are connected to electric motors (3), to provide propulsion, braking regeneration and reverse running. Operation can be in several ways - wholly electric, electric boosting of engine power by clutching with battery power, mixed engine and electric propulsion or purely engine drive. Several electric motors can be used, with series-parallel connections. Electrical control is automatic.
