Abstract

The glider is loaded with special high efficiency accumulators which are distributed about the fuselage for weight spreading. They drive a large diameter screw at relatively low speeds using and electric motor and a bent drive. The accumulators can be nickel cadmium which are rapidly recharged, while the electric motor can be directed coupled to the screw. The system enables the glider to take off under its own power as well as providing a silent, non polluting auxiliary power unit. The accumulators are either of nickel-cadmium or silver, zinc type, driving the propeller at 2000-3000 r.p.m.
