Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an emulsion cosmetic containing a fatty acid soap as an emulsifier and having excellent emulsion stability, time-dependent stability, applicability, etc. comparable with borax, by using a higher fatty acid, an organic acid, and a basic substance as essential components. CONSTITUTION:A higher fatty acid such as bees wax, stearic acid, etc. is dissolved in an oil phase or in an aqueous phase, and a basic substance to neutralize the fatty acid, e.g. an alkali hydroxide or basic amino acid such as lysine and an organic acid e.g. an oxyacid, a dibasic acid, or an acidic amino acid such as glutamic acid, are dissolved in an aqueous phase by heating both phases at 80 deg.C. The oil phase is added to the aqueous phase or the aqueous phase is added to the oil phase, stirred, and cooled to room temperature to obtain the objective emulsion. The amount of the organic aicd is preferably >=5wt% based on the higher fatty acid. The amount of the basic substance is preferably more than equivalent to the organic acid, and that of the basic substance left after subtracting the equivalent amount to the organic acid is preferably less than equivalent to the higher fatty acid.
