Abstract

The invention comprises 4-(camphenyl-8)-butan - 2 - one and 2 - (camphenyl - 8 - methyl)-cyclopentan-2-one, and the preparation thereof by condensing 8-chloromethyl-camphene with an alkali metal salt of acetoacetic acid ester or cyclopentanone-o-carboxylic acid ester, followed by ketonic hydrolysis.ALSO:Scent compositions contain 4-(camphenyl-8)-butan-2-one and 2-(camphenyl-8-methyl)-cyclo-pentan-2-one together with other conventional perfume ingredients.
