Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect rapidly the reciprocal of the period of input pulse by presetting a deduction counter and an addition counter by means of input pulse and at the same time controlling the frequency of an oscillator for counting by means of the outputs of both counters. CONSTITUTION:Input pulse is input to a monostable multivibrator MS2 through a monostable multi-vibrator MS1, and at the rise of signal S2 deduction counter CN1 and addition counter CN2 are respectively preset at 2N<-1> and 2N<-2>. By the outputs of a group of terminals of those counters CN1 and CN2, switches S0- SN-1 and W0-WN-1 are turned on, and the output pulse (p) of an oscillator OSC is inputted to the counters CN1 and CN2. The output of the decuction counter CN1 is maintained by a latch LA due to the rise of a signal S1 that is obtained by the next rise of the input pulse, and at the same time it is sent out to outside as digital output. With this arrangement values that are proportional to the reciprocal of the input period, that is the frequency can be obtained rapidly.
