Abstract
PURPOSE: Lower alcohol or ether is brought into contact with a specific crystalline bismuth silicate under specified conditions to produce in high efficiency the titled mixture with no formation of durene and other compounds unsuitable for gasoline.
CONSTITUTION: An alcohol and/or an ether with alkyls of 4 or less carbon atoms such as methanol or dimethyl ether is brought into contact with (B) crystalline bismuth silicate with a chemical composition of the formula (R is mono- or divalent cation; n is valency of R; M is cation of trivalent transition metal, Al3+; a+b=1; a>0; b≥0; y≥5) to produce the objective mixture. The component B is preferably activated by heating at 400W700°C in the air for 2W48hr before use.
EFFECT: The process inhibits the formation of carbon and prolongs the catalyst life.
