Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate sliver cutting and simplify maintenance by merely moving a full can and cutting sliver in a reliable manner during can replacement between full and empty cans for a spinning machine. CONSTITUTION:Sliver S spinned out from the body of a comb is compressed by a calendar roller 9 and is coiled and stored in cans FC1 and FC2 through a discharge nozzle 13 provided below a coiler tube 10. When empty cans EC1 and EC2 are carried into a can storage recessed section 25, an automatic can exchange unit 18 operates, and rotary arms 26 and 27 are rotated at 180 deg. in C direction, thereby moving the full cans FC1 and FC2, and the empty cans EC1 and EC2 in a circular motion. The sliver is then subjected to a tensile force generated at two points between the calendar roller 9 and a corner angle section near the discharge nozzle 13 below the coiler tube 10 and is cut.
