Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a flat bottom and a sharp edge to the electrode after an electrode consuming section is removed by executing electrospark machining by the electrode while using a travelling wire as a material to be machined for dressing and conducting the machining of the face to face of lines. CONSTITUTION:A wire supply bobbin 36 is rotatably mounted to the upper edge section of a machining tank 16, and the wire 38 wound on the bobbin 36 functions as the material to be machined for dressing. When dressing the electrode 10, the electrode 10 is positioned to the side section of the wire 38 between die guides 46, 48, the consuming section to be removed of the electrode 10 is projected to the lower side of the wire, and the wire 38 is made travel, and electical discharge machining is started. Accordingly, the lower end surface of electrode 10 itself is cut horizontally through the electrospark machining of the face to face of lines, and the bottom of the electrode 10 after machining is extemely flat and the edge is extremely sharp.
