Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a correct globule migraton state through simple adjustment by stopping pulses when the welding current value detected momentarily, integrated and operated equals to the preset quantity of heat input or coulomb quantity thereby keeping the quantity of heat input to a wire per pulse at a correct value.

CONSTITUTION: A wire 4 is fed 15 in a base metal direction, and welding current is supplied from a pulse generating power source 1 and a base power source 3, whereby welding is accomplished. At this time, welding current waveforms are detected momentarily with a detector 9, and an integrated value Q₁ is calculated with an integrator 11, and an integrated value Q₂ with an integrator 12, respectively. The output of a multiplier 13 is defined as the part of the quantity of heat input to a wire 4 by arc heat, and the output of a multiplier 14 the part by Joule heat in a projecting part. Next, the sum of the outputs of the multipliers 13 and 14, that is, the total W of the quantity of heat input to the wire 4, is calculated with an adder 15. A setter 16 feeds a command to a pulse trigger circuit 2 at the point of the time when the output W of the adder 15 rises higher than the set quantity W₀, thereby turning the switching element in the power source 1 off and stopping the pulses.
