Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance knock-detecting efficiency by a method wherein vibrations at two arbitrary points before the top dead center are detected and a vibration signal value between the two points is held and used as a reference signal for the detection of knocking, in a device for controlling the ignition timing by detecting the knocking condition. CONSTITUTION:An output from a pulser 3 placed in proximity to a rotor 2 synchronized with the engine revolution is subjected to wave shape reforming and amplification in a pulser detecting circuit 5 and fed into a differentiating circuit 10 of a knock- detecting circuit 6 and an electronic timing control device 7 with phase control. On the other hand, a vibration signal from an engine vibration detector 8 is amplified by an amplifying circuit incorporating an operational amplifier OP1 and then fed to both a detecting circuit for the background level (which is a reference signal level for detection of the knock signal) incorporating an operational amplifier OP2 and a wave detection circuit comprising a capacitor C2. The discharge of a capacitor C1 in the background level detecting circuit is controlled by an output from the differentiating circuit 10, the difference between the output of the detecting circuit and the output of the wave detection circuit is integrated, and a knock control signal is fed out from a circuit comprising an operational amplifier OP3.
