Abstract

PURPOSE:To synchronously push out or draw back roll chocks of the same quantity to easily control the thickness shape in the direction of sheet width, by providing a driving mechanism exerting pressing forces in the direction of rolling from both sides of at least one side of roll chocks. CONSTITUTION:Worm jacks 13a-13d and 13a'-13d' are driven by electric motors 31 and 131 provided to upper both ends of a rolling mill through a coupling 32, a reducing gear 33, and bevel gears 35, and 35b.Hereupon, shafts 36a and 36b of a shaft system connected to input shafts of the worm jacks on the operation side are both rotated in one direction, but the worm jacks 13a, 13b and 13c', 13d' act in the stretching direction of the whole length of the jack, and 13c, 13d, and 13a', 13b' act in the shortening direction of the whole length of the jack. Accordingly, on the operation side, lower roll chocks move to the right side when upper roll chocks move to the left side. On the other hand, on the driving side, a roll cross is obtained by moving upper roll chocks to the right side and lower roll chocks to the left, because a retaining device of roll chocks on the driving side is made to act in the reverse direction to the acting direction of the retaining device on the driving side.
