Abstract

PURPOSE:To extend the dynamic range of a picture signal for incident light by connecting level correcting transistors to transistors and photodiodes to be respective picture elements of matrix configuration. CONSTITUTION:The sources of switching transistors (TRs)B11, B12... constituting each picture element of matrix configuration are connected to the sources of level correcting TRsC11, C12..., which are normally off. If extremely strong light is projected to a photodiode b11 for example, a control signal is supplied from an input terminal 11. Consequently, all TRsC11, C12... are turned on and electric charge accumulated in respective photodiodes b11, b12... is taken out only by the quantity corresponding to the control signal through the TRsC11, C12... and outputted through an output terminal 12. Thus, the electric charge of the diode b11 is prevented from exceeding the connection capacity and overflowing into peripheral diodes b12, b21..., so that precise picture signals are read out from the whole picture elements.
