Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a bright screen, by detecting a maximum incident light quantity to control the incident light quantity so that blooming may be prevented and by amplifying electrically a small-signal part of a little incident light quantity after photoelectric conversion in the image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:When the object is photographed by the television camera, the light which passed through lens system 1 is reduced by stop 2 so that image pickup ele- ment 3 can be prevented from causing blooming even for the maximum light quantity. The output signal of image pickup element 3 is applied to vatiable gain amplifying circuit 6, and the output of variable gain amplifying circuit 6 becomes an output video signal through white level limit circuit 9 and is output from terminal 10. The signal level of the center of the object is detected by signal level detecting circuit 7; and if the level is small, the gain of amplifying circuit 6 is incerased to enlarge the whole of the signal level, and the signal level of the center part is enlarged according to enlargement above. In this case, the signal level of the background part is set to a proper level by circuit 9.
