Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a water-soluble photosensitive substance not gelling even at room temperature, and facilitate to execute smooth coating and control of film thickness, by adding a photopolymerization initiator to an aqueous solution of a low molecular weight gelatin. CONSTITUTION:Collagen in hand bones is treated with chemicals in advnace to remove unnecessary organic matters, and decomposed with proteinase to give a water-soluble gelatin having <=15,000 molecular weight. A water-soluble photosensitive substance is prepared by adding to this aqueous gelatin solution a photopolymerization initiator, such as ammonium bichromate. Use of conventionally employed gelatin having molecular weight as high as 150,000-250,000 renders said photosensitive solution ready to gel, causes gelation even in the case of preheating the solution, during the coating process, and makes it difficult to execute smooth coating and control of film thickness, but use of the low molecular weight gelatin permits coating at room temperature and easy control of film thickness.
