Abstract

PURPOSE:To display how far a vehicle can run in the form of distance by the remaining amount of fuel by providing a sensor which detects the speed and running distance of the vehicle, a sensor which detects the remaining amount of fuel, and an arithmetic device. CONSTITUTION:A trip computer consists of a vehicle speed sensor 12 for detecting the speed and running distance of a vehicle, a fuel amount sensor 39 for detecting the remaining amount of fuel in a fuel tank, a computer 1 for control which performs prescribed processing by receiving signals from said sensors 12 and 39, and a display element 34 which displays data corresponding selection contents by function key switches 21-27. The computer 1 calculates variation in the amount of fuel from the running distance and remaining amount of fuel to obtain statistical data, which is stored in an RAM4; and the mean value of the data is used as fuel consumption data to calculate the distance at which the vehicle can run by the value of the remaining amount of fuel, thereby displaying it on the display device 34.
