Abstract
PURPOSE:To easily recognize a current rip by extracting the current rip according to the variation quantity of water temperature, displaying the water temperature along a track, and displaying a mark which indicates the direction and velocity of a tidal current at the position of the extracted current rip. CONSTITUTION:A water temperature gauge 1 measures the water temperature of a layer of specific water depth, a tidal current gauge 2 measures the direction and velocity of the tidal current, and a position measuring instrument 3 measures the position of a ship, so that their outputs are inputted to a CPU 5 through an I/O port 4. This CPU 5 finds the variation quantity of the water temperature per unit time or unit navigation distance and extracts the position where the water temperature variation quantity exceeds a predetermined value as the tidal rip position. A display control circuit 10 displays the water temperature on a display device 11 along the track and also displays the mark indicating the direction and velocity of the tidal current at the tidal rip position.
