Abstract

PURPOSE:To compute and display the distance which can be covered by remaining fuel in a tank, by predicting the running distance per unit fuel quantity from now on based on the running distance data and the used quantity data of the fuel. CONSTITUTION:The running distance data from a vehicle speed sensor 5 and the remaining fuel quantity data from a fuel sensor 32 are inputted to a computer CPU34. The CPU computes the used quantity of the fuel within a specified time period based on the remaining quantity data and stores the result. Then, the CPU34 computes and predicts the running distance per unit fuel quantity from now on by using the stored used quantity of the fuel and the running distance data from the sensor 5. The distance which can be covered is computed from said predicted value and the remaining fuel quantity data, and the result is displayed on a display element 27. Thus, the distance which can be covered by the remaining fuel in the tank at present can be computed and displayed.
