Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a gas mixture to be ignited efficiently in a short time in an ignition device igniting the gas mixture by light beams, by making the light beams hit high light sbsorptive fine grains which are fed from a fine grain feeding device into a combustion chamber. CONSTITUTION:A gas mixture is sucked into a combustion chamber 3 through an inlet port 6 in a suction stroke, and the gas mixture reaches the minimum light condensing point 17 by the time when the stroke changes to a compression stroke after an intake valve 4 is closed. On the other hand, in order that fine grains can reach the point 17 from a fine grain feeding device 18 exactly at the ignition time, a piezo-electric element 54 oscillates by electricity from a control unit 22, a tip 50a is oscillated by the amplified transmission of oscillation by a hornlike body 58, and the fine grains are emitted through a jetting nozzle 65 by the oscillation force of the tip 50a and the extruding force of a pressing plate 53 pressed by pressurized air in an air chamber 62. On the other hand, light beams are emitted from a light oscillating apparatus 16 at the optimum ignition time being controlled by the signal from the control unit 22. The light beams pass through a condensing lens 11 and collide with the fine grains near the point 17. Then, explosive combustion occurs in a moment. As the fine grain, high light absorptive powdered coal or the like or a sprayed grain or the like as COM is used.
