Abstract

PURPOSE: To minimize the ignition delay and to reduce combustion noises and smoke, by promoting atomization and vaporization of fuel by causing vibration of a vibrator disposed in a combustion chamber.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a vibrator 6 in the manner that its spherical top portion 604 is projected into a swirl chamber 2. The top portion 604 causes ultrasonic vibration by a signal given from an oscillator 7. Fuel is ejected from a fuel injection valve 4 toward the top portion 604 of the vibrator 6 and atomized into fine particles by the vibration of the top portion 604. Further, a flame sensor 9 is provided in the manner that it is exposed in the swirl chamber 2. From the flame sensor 9, a flame signal F is given to the oscillator 7. Here, arrangement is such that the vibrator 6 starts vibration when an engine starting signal S is given from the starter key of the engine and its operation is stopped when the flame signal F is given.
