Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve combustion properties in a sub chamber and enable dilute combustion by a method wherein a supersonic atomizer and a heater are employed in a device for feeding fuel into the sub chamber and the fuel is ignited in the sub chamber with a plasma injecting ignition plug.
CONSTITUTION: When fuel is sucked into a main chamber 3, an electromagnetic opening and closing valve 13 is opened with a predetermined time delay by a delay circuit 52 and a sub chamber fuel feeding device 17 is communicated with a sub chamber 19 through a released fuel pipe 16. This sub chamber fuel feeding device 17 atomizes liquid fuel by a supersonic oscillation of a supersonic oscillator 25 caused by a high-frequency oscillating circuit 27 operated by closing a switch 30 and the atomized fuel is fed into the sub chamber 19 after it is heated and vaporized by a heater 29. The vaporized fuel in the sub chamber 19 is ignited by a plasma injecting ignition plug 8, a central electrode 10 of which is connected to an ordinary ignition circuit 33 and a plasma ignition circuit 34, and is injected into the main chamber 3 while mixing plasmic gas into the combustion flame thereof.
