Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce toner having good press-fixing properties, developability and shelf stability, by after-treating toner particles containing low molecular weight polyethylene so as not to contain <=1,000 weight average molecular weight on a surface part. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of low molecular weight polyethylene having 500- 10,000 weight average molecular weight and magnetic powders is kneaded by heating with a roller, pulverized to powder after cooling and classified to obtain 5- 20mum primary toner. The primary toner is filtered while heating after mixing and dispersing in heat toluene and the filtered substance is washed while heating with a little amount of toluene to produce toner freed from low molecular components having <=1,000 surface molecular weight. By such treatments, a surface becomes a nonflocculating layer having less flexible components, and good developability and shelf atability are obtained. While, an inner part maintains the properties capable of fixing even in low pressure owing to the effect of contained low molecular weight components.
