Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain mechanical strength by covering a soft material for the connection terminal of a fiber with a hard material. CONSTITUTION:A soft coating 2 covering an optical fiber wire 1 is removed at the tip part of the wire, which is inserted into a terminal-holding member consisting of a thin glass pipe 3 and a holding metallic fixture 4 to achieve the connection of a fiber connection terminal, which is covered with a soft tube 5 of an leastic material like rubber and a metallic tube over both the soft coating 2 and holding metallic fixture 4. The metallic pipe 6 prevents external force from being applied directly to the connection terminal part 7, and the soft tube 5 absorbs and reduce remote force, so the mechanical strength of the connected terminal is increased, preventing a breaking accident.
