Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent a spring clutch from being affected by variation of load by winding a special type of coil spring round a cylindrical part fixed to a load side shaft. CONSTITUTION:A coil spring 9 is linked to a rotor 11, which is rotatably coupled via a bearing 4 to a stator 13 fixed to a load machine 5, at its one end and to a pulley 2, which is fitted in place via a hub 7 and the bearing 4 to a load shaft 6, at the other end. Rotation of the pulley 2 through external force causes the rotation of the spring 9 together with a pulley 11 as one body, while the electrification to the winding of the stator induces eddy current in the rotor 11. This causes the spring 9 to reduce its diameter by self-winding, and the hub 7 and the pulley 2 are coupled to rotate as one body. Accordingly, the tightening force of the spring 9 is determined by the shockless slide engaging of clutch due to the electromagnetic induction in the stator 13 and the rotor 11 and not affected by the variation of load.
