Abstract
952,851. Spring motors; springs. SAND- VIKENS JERNVERKS A.B. April 8, 1960 [April 8, 1959], No. 12695/60. Heading F2S. A power spring assembly comprises an arbor 17, Figs. 1 and 2 secured to a shaft 10 fixed on a stationary support 11; a barrel 12 provided with a peripheral flange 14 and boss 16, rotatable on the shaft ; and a spiral spring 20 having its inner end 22 anchored at 18 to the arbor, the outer coil 21 being closed by riveting overlapping ports at 25, whilst a tangential extension 24 of the outer coil is provided with a looped portion 28 anchored in a slot 19 in the barrel whereby the extension can pivot in the slot. When the spring is wound-up or unwinds by relative rotation of the arbor and barrel the coil 21 enclosing the spring, is deformed and prevents binding and consequent friction between the coils of the spring. In another embodiment the extension is formed as a loop cnchored to a post projecting from the bottom of the barrel.
