Abstract
1451257 Clock springs ETA A G EBAUCHES FABRIK 15 Jan 1974 [9 Feb 1973] 01840/74 Heading F2S [Also in Division G3] The inner end 9 of a spiral main spring 8 is reduced in width and wrapped around a barrel arbor 11 for at least two complete turns so that it is attached to the arbor by friction. As shown the arbor has a circular cylindrical surface and the spring end 9 is cut with a length exactly equal to twice the arbor circumference and with a width equal to one third that of the spring. The end corner 12 lies on the line of the spring edge 14. In an alternative embodiment the end is cut as an elongated isosceles triangle with a similarly shaped central aperture within which the spring tip lies when the end is wrapped around the arbor (Figs. 1 and 3, not shown).
