Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a metallic gasket which can withstand baking at high temperatures and also can be reused repeatedly by burying a sealing metal, e.g., lead, tin, etc., in an annular groove provided in both surfaces of a Cu-annular base plate.
CONSTITUTION: The metallic gasket is made up of a Cu-annular base plate 10 and a sealing metal, e.g., lead, tin, antimony, aluminum, etc., buried in an annular groove 10a provided in both surfaces of the base plate 10. Also, a continuous groove 12 is formed in the periphery of the base plate 10. In the groove 12, a heater 16 by which the metal 11 is melted by heating is provided. The sealing metal 11 is adhered to the Cu base plate in the form of an alloying state on the boundary region in order to prevent the separation of the sealing metal 11 from the base plate 10 and also to avoid troubles with vacuum sealing in the boundary between the sealing metal 11 and the base plate 10.
