Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent heat stress on furnace wall tubes and ensure the safety of the work by attaching a tension plate slidable on the tubes, which has no need of welding in the field.
CONSTITUTION: Before a boiler is assembled, lags 3 are fit on some furnace wall tubes 2 and annealed in a work. The furnace tubes 2 are shaped completely when set up in the field. With the tension plate 1 fit between lags 3, a retaining fittings 4 are bolted 5 on to the lags 3 so that the tension plate 1 is pressed on the furnace wall tubes 2. No need of welding in the field when a large boiler is constructed provides safety of work. If difference in temperature between the furnace wall tubes 2 and the tension plate 1 may cause, heat stress will not appear because the tension plate 1 is slidable on the furnace wall tubes.
