Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled immunotherapy agent that contains lipopolysaccharide obtained from arabinomannan in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and a fatty acid as an active principle, thus showing higher activity and lower side-effects than naturally occurring lipoarabinomannan.
CONSTITUTION: The cell bodies of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv strain are extracted with hot water or an alkali and the extract is purified to give arabinomannan. The resultant arabinomannan is used as a polysaccharide and a fatty acid is employed to give a lipopolysaccharide of 1W28% fatty acid content and the lipopolysaccharide is used as an active principle to give the objective tumor immunotherapy agent. Further, the lipopolysaccharide may be modified with fatty acids. The fatty acids used are palmitic, myristic and oleic acids and the polysaccharide is composed of 30W74% arabinose, 20W50% mannose, 0W10% glucose and 0W 13% galactose. The lipopolysaccharide is simple in chemical composition and removes side-effects caused by cell bodies.
