Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a novel alloy excellent in radiation resistance to be used in an atmosphere under radiation exposure, in particular, neutron irradiation, consisting of the alloy containing N of the same or more amount of impurity, and consisting of a Cr-Ni austenite stainless steel that has in particular predominantly an austenite structure.
CONSTITUTION: The alloy consists of a Cr-Ni austenite steel having predominantly an austenite structure and contains the same amount of impurity amount or more, preferably 0.05W0.2wt% of N. The content of N is the same as an impurity amount or more, preferably an amount substantially not forming nitrides in the alloy, and further it is preferred that the N is present substantially as a solid solution in the alloy. The alloy is excellent in radiation resistance, and exhibits its outstanding effect when used for members of equipments in a nuclear reactor.
