Abstract
PURPOSE:To determine creatinine continuously in high accuracy, by providing enzyme creatinine diminase and a nitrification bacteria oxidizing only ammonia selectively to the neighborhood of the diaphragm of a dissolved oxygen electrode. CONSTITUTION:A composite membrane of a hydrophillic semispermeable membrane 24 which carries out the fixation of enzyme creatine diminase forming ammonia by the decomposition of creatinine and a porous membrane 22 which carries out the adsorption fixation of a microorganism oxidizing only ammonia selectively, that is, a nitrification bacteria, is provided between a diaphragm 20 and a dialysis membrane 26 of a dissovled oxygen electrode 10. In order to determine e.g. creatinine in body fluids by this electrode, the electrode is immersed in suitably diluted liquid to be inspected and decreased quantity of dissolved oxygen in the liquid to be inspected is measured by decreased quantity of an outputted electric current of the electrode. Said decreased quantity of this outputted electric current is in direct proportion to the concentration of creatinine in the liquid to be inspected.
