Abstract
PURPOSE: To determine ammonia with good stability and reliability by electrically detecting reduction in dissolved oxygen by making a microorganism electrode, using a microorganism system oxidizing selectively ammonia, in contact with a solution to be detected.
CONSTITUTION: Fungus layer 1 of nitrified bacteria is held by supporter 2 such as nylon meshes, and this is fixed by a porous film (e.g. milli-pore filter) 3, which allows ammonia, ammonium ions, oxygen, etc., to pass freely while disallowing fungi to pass, and fitted to the lower end of a cell frame; and then isolation film 4 and anode 6 of an oxygen electrode with fitted cathode 5 are installed in the cell frame and a KCl electrolyte is charge inside, thereby constitution microorganism.
