Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize the direct and continuous measurement for the high-concentration glucose of the blood sugar or the like, by providing the selecting transmission film in front of the fixed enzyme film of the glucose electrode in order to limit the transmission of the glucose and ensure the transmission of the dissolved oxygen.
CONSTITUTION: For measurement of the blood sugar level or the like, both glucose electrode A and reference enzyme electrode B are mounted to substitute blood vessel wall 4 via packing 9, and then fixed with outer film 10. Electrode A contains platinum cathode 1 fixed to electrode supporter 5 plus fixed enzyme film 6 with the glucose oxidase fixed in front of silver anode 2. Electrode B has film 8 having the same property as film 6 and containing no glucose oxidase in front of cathode 1 and anode 2 each. Then selecting transmission film 9 is provided in front of films 6 and 8 each in order to limit the transmission of the glucose partially but not to disturb the transmission of the dissolved O2. Thus the glucose concentration is obtained via the output difference between electrodes A and B. As a result, the direct and continuous measurement is possible up to the 5-fold concentration in comparison with the conventional device.
