Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform effective and accurate abrasive finish work for the faces to be polished by setting a rotary grinder on the same axis of a wire electrode of wirecut electric discharge machining equipment and by allowing the grinder to retreat as necessary. CONSTITUTION:An arm 4 of wirecut electric discharge machining equipment 1 is provided with a wire electrode 6 stretched through a guide 5, and a setting unit 9 is also attached to the arm 4. A set arm 12 of the setting unit 9 is so rotated that a grinder 20 may be positioned in either location of finish machining or retreat while both locations are coaxial with the wirecut electrode. When electric discharge machining work is accomplished, the wire electrode 6 is removed and the grinder 20 is positioned in the location of finish machining. Then the grinder 20 is rotated by a motor 13 so as to perform abrasive work. As for the outside configuration, a specified off set volume is set by an NC equipment and the same feed required for electric discharge machining is to be provided. It is acceptable to double electrolytic machining or provide vertical motion and vibration to the grinder 20.
