Abstract

PURPOSE:To adjust the liquid in a tank to have a uniform temperature distribution by a method wherein in a silencer adopted to perform a heat exchange operation between the liquid and steam by injecting the steam into the liquid, an annular steam film is blown into the liquid from an opening so that the liquid is heated and circulated forcibly in the tank. CONSTITUTION:The steam supplied into a steam chamber 3 through a supply pipe 6 is compressed as it comes close to an opening 4 and injected into a liquid communication cylinder 2 from the opening 4 at a high velocity and in the form of the thin annular steam film 7 so that pressure is applied on the part of the liquid in front of the opening 4 and then the steam film is blown from an opening (b) of the cylinder 2 as it is accompanied with the part of the liquid which has filled the cylinder 2. The steam film 7 is the liquid flows toward the opposing wall of the lower part of the tank 1 and then moves upward along the wall. At the same time, a strong sucking force generates at an opening (a) of the liquid communication cylinder 2 due to the blowing off of the liquid outside the cylinder 2 by the steam film 7 so that the lower part of the liquid is sucked in and therefore, a liquid flow from the upper part of the tank 1 down to the lower part thereof generates behind the cylinder 2 to make the entire liquid circulate through the tank 1. As a consequence, the liquid can be heated efficiently by mere injection of the steam film into the liquid communication cylinder 2 and further, as the liquid circulates through the tank 1, it can be heated uniformly.
