Abstract

PURPOSE:Material is heat-tempered in vacuum and then sprayed with gasified liquid nitrogen to thereby achieve bright-annealing by rapid cooling. CONSTITUTION:In a heat chamber 1 which is evacuated by a vacuum pump, a material 3 to be treated is disposed and heated by a heater 4 for bright-annealing. Then, open a door 9, lower a lift 7, place the material 3 in a cooling chamber 2 and close the door 9. Liquid nitrogen is conducted from a container 12 into a gasifying chamber 11, and gasified nitrogen is jetted through a nozzle 10 into the cooling chamber 2. The gasfied cool nitrogen is sprayed onto the material 3 by a fan 6 in the chamber 2 to effect rapid cooling of bright-annealing for the material. The process of rapid cooling bright-annealing can be applied effectively to a thick material, and further, stainless steel can be effectively prevented from sensitization by action of rapid cooling.
