Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the number of optical fibers to be used by containing a light emitting element and a photodetecting element in a package. CONSTITUTION:A firing signal generated by a controller 10 is converted by the light emitting element of a composite light emitting and photodetecting element 9-1 into an optical signal, and is delivered via an optical fiber 4 into a composite light emitting and photodetecting element 9-2. Then, the signal is converted by a photodetecting element 13 into an electric signal, which is in turn amplified by a control circuit 11, and is supplied as a gate signal to a thyristor 1. In this manner, the number of using optical fibers can be reduced, and the controller and a high tension control circuit can be simplified.
