Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform automatical switching of an optical fiber in failure with simple constitution, by the constitution that an output optical signal is transmitted to two optical fibers and an optical switch at the reception input section is switched with a control signal of a gain controlling circuit. CONSTITUTION:Either one of optical signals from two optical fibers 2-1 and 2-2 is alternatively selected and inputted to a photodetector 1-2 by an optical switch 1-10 and an outputted optical signal is emitted to the two optical fibers 2-1 and 2-2 by an optical splitter, and the optical switch 1-10 is controlled with a control signal of a gain controlling circuit 1-4. Thus, if the photoreception amount from the optical fiber 2-1 is decreased to a prescribed value or less, the cable is replaced to the optical fiber 2-2 for reception.
