Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve dimensional acuracy and strength in the stage of kneading heated sand grains and a solid resol type phenolic resin and molding the molding sand by adding a prescribed amt. of hexamethylenetetramine. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. solid resol type phenolic resin consisting essentially of SR aid is added to heated (120-140 deg.C) abrasive grains and these are agitated and mixed. Next, ''hexa'' water prepd. by dissolving 2-20pts. hexamethylenetetramine in water is added thereto and these are further kneaded. In this way, the resin coated molding sand with high dimensional accuracy and strength is obtained.
