Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the baking time, increase the productivity, and improve the offensive smell pollution, by forming sand grains in different resin coated sands with resol type resin and novolak type resin mixed with hardener, and molding in mixture.
CONSTITUTION: Phenol, for malin and aqueous solution of hexamine as a catalyzer are put in a reactor, and heated and addition-condensed. Then, the jelly-like resin dehydrated under reduced pressure is cooled, and crushed, and is further dehydrated, then resol type resin is obtained. To obtain novolak type resin, phenol, formalin and oxalic acid as a catalyzer are put in a reactor, and heated and addition-condensed. Heating and concentrating under ordinary pressure, phenol is removed under reduced pressure, and o-amino benzoic acid is added 1.5wt% as hardener, then the resin is obtained by cooling after dissolving. Next, heated silica sand is put in a mixer, and while adding and mixing resol, water and calcium stearate are added and mixed, then resol coated sand is obtained. While adding novolak to heated silica sand and mixing similarly, when water, hardener and calcium stearate are added and mixed, then novolak coated sand is obtained. Then, by mixing the both types of sand, a molding material is obtained.
