Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the loss of an optical connector by carrying out plastic formation by using an electroforming metallic mold for the formation of a core and a metallic mold, wherein a master-mold pipe used for the formation of the electroforming metallic mold for the core is incorporated, for the formation of a receptacle. CONSTITUTION:A pipe 10 made of metal, etc., provided with a master mold circular hole 9 which has an external diameter nearly equal to the diameter of an optical fiber wire and is nearly free of eccentricity, and a wire 11 which has nearly the same diameter with the optical fiber wire and one large-rigidity end flattened are used, and the wire 11 is inserted into the master-mold circular hole 9 to prescribed depth. The pipe 10, when metal, is used as a master mold as it is and nickel electroformation is carried out by using a nickel electrode 12 and a nickel electroforming bath 13. When an electroformed layer 14 grown to prescribed thickness is extracted from the pipe 10, the wire 11 is still fixed to the electroformed layer 14, thus obtaining an electroforming metallic mold 15 for core formation which has the wire 11 projected in the center of the bottom surface part nearly in an eccentricity-free state while its diameter is equal to the external diameter of the pipe 10.
