Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the operational efficiency by attaching an absorption and cooling tower composed of multitube type heat exchangers each made of impermeable graphite to the bottom of a combustion tower and combining the exchangers in series with a connecting tube sheet in-between.
CONSTITUTION: An absorbing liq. fed from an inlet 4 flows down along the inner wall of a combustion tower 1 while absorbing part of synthetic gaseous hydrogen chloride sprayed from the nozzle 2 of a burner. The liq. is accmulated once at the bottom part of the tower, and it overflows into each V-notched pipe 10 and flows down along the inside of each heat exchanger tube 6 of the 1st-stage multitube type heat exchanger 5 of an absorption and cooling tower while wetting the wall. The liq. reaches a flow regulating cavity part 12, gathers temporarily and drops through the space continuously. As a result, when the liq. drops into each through hole of the 2nd-stage connecting tube sheet, the inside is covered with a uniform liq. film again, and the liq. flows down along the inside of each heat exchanger tube of the 2nd-stage multitube type heat exchanger 5' while wetting the wall normally.
