Abstract
PURPOSE:To make the inner wall of a tubular bulb to be homogeneously coated with a phosphor without any necessity of heating the bulb by wetting the inner wall of the bulb with an aqueous boric-acid solution, and spraying a phosphor powder over the inner wall of the bulb. CONSTITUTION:The inner wall of a fluorescent-lamp glass bulb 1, after being washed, is wetted by pouring 3% aqueous boric-acid solution, and is dried by blowing hot air into the bulb 1. Next, the bulb 1 is supported with a bulb supporter 2, which is made of a conductive rubber and is earthed, so that the bulb 1 is rotatable. Then, a powder injection nozzle 3 is inserted into the bulb 1 while the bulb 1 is rotated, and a charged phosphor powder 4 is injected while moving the nozzle 3 so as to make the inner wall of the bulb 1 to be coated with the phosphor powder 4. Since the electric resistance of the glass surface is notably decreased due to boric-acid adsorbed in the inner wall of the bulb 1, the charged phosphor powder 4 is easily applied to the glass surface, and a homogeneous phosphor layer of no variations can be formed.
