Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the error detecting and correcting capacities of the feedback type cross-interleave code and, when transmitted data are recorded in a magnetic tape, to easily edit the data in blocks, by completing assemblage of encoded words of a prescribed number at a every block. CONSTITUTION:Data selectors 7 and 8 and address selectors 9 and 10 are connected to RAMs 5 and 6 which input PCM data from an input terminal 4 in a unit of mXn words. When two parities are formed in the data of the RAMs 5 and 6, a word clock CK is supplied to an address counter 13 and a word counter 17. One of the RAMs 5 and 6 is advanced in steps by the block and word address, and the other RAM is controlled in address so as to satisfy the cross-interleave, and thus the data written by the previous cycle are outputted and, at the same time, the parity formed in an encoder 11 is taken. Moreover, a redundancy code for the 1st error correction is contained in the implementing sequence of the redundancy code for the 2nd error correction.
