Abstract

PURPOSE:To constitute a laser diode driving circuit which can perform pulse amplitude modulations of optical ouputs. CONSTITUTION:This circuit is provided with two transistors (TR) 10 and 14 whose emitter are connected to each other so as to constitute an unsaturated type current switching circuit, a laser diode 7 connected to the collector of the TR10 through an impedance 9, a modulated wave generator 1 connected to the base of the TR10 through an impedance 2, and an electric current source for wave to be modulated 13 connected to a connected point 3 of the emitters of the TRs 10 and 14 through an impedance 11. From the modulated wave generator 1 a modulate signal of a large amplitude is supplied to the base of the TR10 so that the TRs 10 and 14 may become conductive and nonconductive alternately. and, at the same time, a current signal of a wave to be modulated is supplied to the emitter connecting point 3 from the electric current source for waves to be modulated 13, then, an optical output whose pulse amplitude is modulated is obtained from the laser diode 7 connected to the collector of the TR10.
