CONSTITUTION:Two transparent plates 1a and 1b of glass, etc. contain liquid crystal molecule oriented films 3a and 3b of polyimide, etc. plus transparent electrodes 2a and 2b containing indium oxide. A double refractive glass fiber is put between the plates 1a and 1b as a spacer 6. Then a nematic liquid crystal 5 is added, and at the same time plarizing plates 8a and 8b are stuck to both surfaces of a cell to be orthogonal to each other. Thus a liquid crystal display device is formed. When the power supply 7 is turned off, the liquid crystal molecules are set in parallel to the plates 1a and 1b. The light transmitted through the plate 8a is optically rotated by the twist of the liquid crystal molecule and transmits the liquid crystal layer and then the plate 8b to become bright.
