Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an element with long life by increasing the wear resistance of a recording or reproducing element for a PCM audio disc and the adhesive strength to diamond, by forming an electrode with carbide of a transistion metal such as Ti. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 6 of a reproducing stylus 1 is formed with carbide in which C is invaded to a transition metal such as Ti, V, Zr, Nb, Hf, Ta, Y, Mo and W. The electrode 6 is formed by ion plating of TiC, a physical vapor deposition method such as electron beam vapor deposition method, or a chemical vapor deposition method using a gaseous transition metal such as TiCl4, and gaseous CH4. Since the carbide has good adhesive strength to diamond, high hardness and high elasticity, and are resistive to acid and alkali resistance, the element with long life and high reliability can be obtained.
