Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the yield of molds in the production of high density recording records such as PCM records or the like by performing the surface roughening work on glass substrate prior to depositing of a metal on the glass substrate. CONSTITUTION:With a disc form glass substrate 1, the portions from about 2 cm from the center hole on the inside circumference and from about 1.5 cm inward from the outermost circumference on the outside circumference are left and the other portions are covered. Next, while the substrate 1 is being rotated, the exposed portions are filed by about, e.g., #200. Thereby, a multiplicity of grooves of more than 1mum in both width and depth are engraved approximately concentrically on the inside and outside circumferences of the glass surfaces, whereby the face roughened parts 5 are formed. Next, the covering is removed and the substrate is washed. A specified metal 2 is deposited on this substrate 1 by such a means as vapor deposition and bits 3 are cut by laser beams to this metal 2, whereby the original disc is completed.
